About Attorney
Graduated from the faculty of law in Universitas Indonesia in 2016, Yakup kicked off his lawyering career at HHP Law Firm (Baker McKenzie) with a focus on project finance and commercial dispute resolution. He assisted numerous multinational companies in project finance transactions as borrowers, as well as financial institutions as lenders. Further, Yakup also advised and represented individuals and companies in commercial litigation, general compliance, and arbitration.
In 2020, Yakup obtained a master’s degree (LL.M.) in International Business Regulation, Litigation, and Arbitration from New York University. Upon returning to Indonesia, Yakupjoined Otto Hasibuan & Associates, where he concentrated on dispute resolution matters, including criminal and commercial litigation, mediation, arbitration, and restructuring. In the field of litigation, Yakup frequently assists clients from the pre-litigation stage at the police, negotiation and mediation with counterparts, as well as trial and enforcement stage at the relevant courts.
In 2024, Yakup was also trusted by Indonesia’s 9th president, Mr. Joko Widodo and family, to be their counsel in several civil and state administrative matters. What’s more, he also represented Mr. Prabowo Subianto and Mr. Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the presidential election dispute at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia.
In the realm of organization, Yakup is also an active board member of the Indonesian Advocate Association (PERADI) and Indonesian Advocate (IKADIN), where he both oversees the International Relations division. He is also the vice president of the Young Lawyers’ Committee in PERADI.
